Party Poker will be hosting the World Poker Open V which is an exclusive event that will have only forty eight players fighting for the $489K prize pool in front of TV cameras in London. The event will start on October 11th.
The odds are out and one of the favorites to take down the event is two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner JC Tran, who has finished in the money twenty eight times at the WSOP, and also won one World Poker Tour event and has finished in the money eleven other times. His live tournament earnings exceed $7.8 million.
Also a favorite at 12/1 odds just like JC Tran is online poker sensation Tom “durrrr” Dwan, mainly an online high stakes poker player who also participates in large live events as well, his live tournament earnings as of 2008 are $1 million. On the other hand his 2008 online play at Full Tilt Poker boosted his bankroll in more than $5.4 million. He also has appeared in the popular TV shows Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker.
But there are other big names involved in the poker tournament. At 14/1 odds are: Layne Flack, James Akenhead, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Roland De Wolfe. Players with 15/1 odds are: Scott Fischman, Luke Schwartz, Party Poker ambassador Mike Sexton, Neil Channing and Marty Smith.
Other notables are: Phil Laak at 18/1, Andy Black at 18/1, Ian Fazer at 20/1 and Sammy George at 40/1.
