Phil “The Unabomber” Laak set out to break the Guinness World Record for poker endurance because he always wanted to own a world record. Laak didn’t just end up breaking the world record, he crushed it by surpassing the old 78 hour milestone all the way to 115 straight hours of live poker. The record was set at a $10-$20 No Limit Hold’em cash game table at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and was webcast live during the entire duration of the event.
At hour 106 our team visited Phil Laak at the Bellagio near the end of his world record performance. Despite his tremendous fatigue he was surprisingly coherent and gave us an insight into what he was feeling at the time of our interview. He also discussed what he learned about his mind and body as a result of what he put himself through.
Laak ended his Guinness World Record run up $6,766 and donated funds to Camp Sunshine which aids children.
