Sure it is a bit early, but it gives people plenty of time to make travel arrangements. PokerStars announced the tentative schedule for the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) this week, slated to be held at the PokerStarsLIVE poker room at the City of Dreams in Macau. The ACOP is to run 17 days, from October 24th through November 9th.
As it is just a tentative schedule, no start times for any events have been determined, nor have the lengths of each event. Some of the tournaments aren’t even labeled with what game is being played. But nonetheless, there are currently 21 events on the schedule, not counting satellites, a significant increase from the 13 events that were held last year. The highlight is the HKD $100,000 (USD $13,000) Main Event, which will start on Tuesday, November 4th. Also of note is the dual starting flight $2 million Guaranteed “Spadie,” so named because of the nickname given to the event trophies, which feature the well-known PokerStars spade logo.
There are a few satellites listed on the schedule – these are live satellites at the PokerStarsLIVE poker room. As is always the case with live PokerStars events, expect the world’s largest online poker room to hold plenty of qualifiers on its site for at least some of the larger buy-in events.
Last year, 203 players bought into the 2013 ACOP Main Event, whose HKD $4,352,000 (USD $561,228) first prize was won by South Korean Sunny Jung.
