The start of the second day of play brought 122 players to the tables, and by the time the day ends there will be about fifty percent of the field remaining. Day three will give us a disappointed bubble boy and some very excited players after they reach the money positions.
The ’09 player of the year at the ANZPT Tony Hachem has had a great performance, he has been able to build his chip stack up to 100K and the last player that he busted out was Dan Smith. The hand that ended Smith’s tournament life was one in which he held pocket fives and moved his remaining chips to the center of the table, Hachem called and showed Ace-King, Smith was ahead but the board would decide if he was to double-up or leave the tournament. The board brought Queen-Jack-2-9-King which definitely put an end to Smith’s run and it helped Hachem build his chip stack to six digits.
But not all players had a great day two; Martin Comer’s day had been great until level ten, he was well positioned in the tournament but players Pankaj Gogia and Ben Butcher eliminated him – they managed to take all his chips in just fifteen minutes of play and Comer’s tournament live was over.
A PokerStars pro that was hoping to make a deep run and reach the money positions hit a brick wall on her way to success and she won’t be returning the day three: Amanda De Cesare exited the tourney after her pocket Kings where outmatched by the flush hit by her opponent Mike Watson. But there are still plenty of PokerStars qualifiers and some PokerStars Pros among the field, and any of them is still able to make a deep run.
