The PokerStars APPT Macau is a prestigious event attended by players from all around the world. The event improves each year and offers a bigger price pool to the winners. This year is no exception; the APPT Macau has broken the record of biggest prize pool for a live poker tournament in Asia with an astonishing purse of HKD $16,130,400 which is more than two million US dollars. Money prizes will be given to the top forty eight players and the first place winner will be taking home a prize of HKD $4,194,000 which converts to $541,082.52 US dollars.
The total field for the APP Macau was 429 players but after days 1A, 1B and 1C, the field has been narrowed down to one hundred and ninety six players who will return to the Grand Lisboa Hotel and Casino to start day two of the tournament.
A few big names remain in the hunt, including: 2005 WSOP main event Champion Joe Hachem, the ANZPT Player of the Year Tony Hachem, PokerStars pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, PokerStars.net Team Asia pros Bryan Huang and Celina Lin, PokerStars’ sponsored player Wei Cheng Chiang.
