Day two has ended at the prestigious event in Macau and only 42 players remain in contention for the 1st place prize that will award more than half a million to the winner.
Australian player Suen Kit Cheong turned up the aggression in the last hands of the day, as he sent PokerStars Qualifier Justin Ostrowski to the rail in 45th after Justin’s A-K ran into Cheong’s set of eights. The last hand of the night once again had Cheong in the spot light when he called Canadian Aaron Lerner’s all in with A-8. Lerner tabled 66, but when the board ran K-K-5-4-A, Aaron was eliminated and Cheong took over the chip lead.
Level fifteen brought bad news for one player and good news for the rest of the field; nobody wanted to be the bubble boy, and when it eventually burst, Swedish PokerStars qualifier David Paananen earned the dubious honor. Paananen had flopped a set of threes and was well ahead of PokerStars qualifier Sunny Bhayan’s A-5. However, when the board ran 3-10-8-2-4, Paananen’s worst nightmares came true, and the horrific beat put him on the rail in 49th.
