Day three has come to an end at the EPT Warsaw event and only 24 players remain. Many players saw their hopes of winning a big live event crushed while others had the luck of surviving another tough day on the felts.
American Carter Phillips got off to a strong start, but busted near the end of day 2, thus ending his shot at becoming the first two-time EPT winner.
Among the twenty four remaining players in the field there are only five that are linked to PokerStars including Canadian Clayton Mozdzen who heads into tomorrow with the second biggest chipstack. German player Alexander Debrus has also shown great skills on the felts and falls short of Mozdzen’s chip count by only ten thousand chips.
The only American player left in the field is PokerStars qualifier Shaun Deeb and he has the difficult task of representing a country that has some of the best players in the world. Shaun has had remarkable accomplishments in online poker and he now has the chance to demonstrate why he is from the new breed of poker players.
Sitting lonely in the field is the only PokerStars pro Luca Pagano, who recently extended his record of most cashes at the EPT events to twelve. The highest position Luca has achieved and he will start day four with the fifth shortest chip stacks.
The chip leader is not you average player – Canadian Jeffrey Sarver is a former child chess prodigy. The early years of his life where focused mainly on chess but due to some problems he and his family moved to other countries and kept a low profile. He jumped into the poker scene in late 2008 and has had success, as he took a third place at a European Masters of Poker tournament and he also won a EPT event in Prague.
