PokerStars is the proud sponsor of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour, a new poker tournament series that brought 1,309 players to the felts and awarded $2,982,436 AUD in prizes. The tour visited 5 cities: Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Queenstown and Queensland.

The event winners were the following:

• ANZPT Adelaide – Karl Kratschneider – AUD $170,215
• ANZPT Sydney – Paren Arzoomanian – AUD $246,500
• ANZPT Melbourne – Chris Levick – AUD $158,050
• ANZPT Queenstown – Daniel Chavalier – NZD $87,435
• ANZOT Queensland – Scott Kerr – AUD $168,075

At the end of season 1, Team PokerStars Pro Tony Hachem is the series player of the year. His last name might sound familiar because he is the brother of 2005 World Series of Poker Champion, Joe Hachem, one of the most successful tournament players in history with over 10 million in lifetime tournament winnings.

Tony Hachem is quickly coming out from under his brother’s shadow, and has cashed for about $83,918 before his success on the ANZPT. With this win he earned the right to represent PokerStars on the Asia Pacific Poker Tour and the Aussie Millions Main Event.

Season Two of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour should bring more players to the tables resulting in bigger prize pools. Visit PokerStars.com to find out more information on their many sponsored tournaments.
