The Latin American Poker Tour it’s already in its third season and it has been a complete success. The schedule includes five stops, with the first one concluding this past weekend. It was held in beautiful Costa Rica in Central America. Players from all parts of the world flew to the Playa Conchal and got away from cold winter weathers in exchange for beautiful beaches and sunny days.
The event lasted five days and it had a total of 259 who gave their best efforts to make it to the top money positions. After several intensive days of play, the final table was set and it had five Canadian players, one Guatemalan player, one Dutch and only one representative from the host country, Rogelio Pardo. The final table started and it took one hour for the first player to be busted out – Patrik de Koster when out in 8th position for $13,818. Players kept busting out of the tournament and the only local player was doing a great job at the table, but unfortunately for Rogelio Pardo he was unable to reach the heads-up play and busted out in third place for $61K.
After the only local in the final table was out, the heads-up play began with two Canadians that wanted the first place prize it was going to be a fierce battle. The heads-up action lasted several hours and at the end Amer Sulaiman was able to defeat Sol Bergren to take home the first place prize for $172K.
The next stop on the LAPT tour is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure which will be hosted in the beautiful Bahamas, starting on January 4th and extending until January 14th. The PCA will have a massive amount of players coming from all parts of the world to take part in one or many of the 50 scheduled tournaments. PokerStars has started to host satellite events that will award packages that include the entry to the main event as well as accommodations at the Atlantis Resort and Casino.
