The WSOPE had a remarkable field that included players like Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, PokerStars pro Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, and Jason Mercier among many other poker professionals and poker celebrities.
At some point on day 3 Doyle Brunson was in 21st place on the chip count and it looked like he was in excellent shape and could eventually win his 11th WSOP bracelet. The 3rd day of the tournament ended with 36 players, which set up an intense day four which would see them play down to the final table. Some of the big names that busted on day 4 where: Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Liz Lieu, Men Nguyen, Steve Zolotow, and the unfortunate, Doyle Brunson.
The final table was a memorable one, if only because of how long it took to compete. It will also be remembered because it had a 09 November Nine member in the nine player field. Two other players that where in the field and had the skill to take down the event where PokerStars pros Daniel Negreanu and Jason Mercier. At one point each one of them had the chip lead but it was too early to know how the tournament was going to end.
When the final reached the heads-up action it was Barry Shulman and Daniel Negreanu who took the honors, where Barry Shulman still had enough in him to take the first place prize and leave Negreanu at the door step of taking home another WSOP bracelet.
