The popularity of Pot Limit Omaha is no doubt growing all over the world. A more complex game by nature, Omaha has captured the attention of poker players and has made Omaha a popular poker game at live events and online as well.
The overall performance of PokerStars pros at the WCOOP events had not been good… until now. The $320 Pot Limit Omaha rebuy tourney attracted many big names including PokerStars pros Barry Greenstein, Bertrand Grospellier, Marcin Horeki, Ben Kang, Gavin Griffin, Leo Fernandez, Marcel Luske, Katja Thater and many others.
Greg “Fossilman” Raymer had a good run, but busted about 20 from the money in 167th place. Other notable performances by PokerStars pros were Andre Akkari who finished in 106th place, Humberto Brenes in 64th place, and Chris Moneymaker in 59th. But the best performance by a PokerStars pro came from George Danzer, who was able to outlast the 975 player field to take down the first place prize of $109K. Kunkku finished in 2nd for $81,750 and buck21 took home $62,130 for 3rd.
Three WCOOP events will run today: a NL Hold’em tourney with rebuys and a $1.25 million guarantee at 2:30pm , a Fixed Limit Omaha High/Low tourney at 4:30 pm, and a $320 $300K guaranteed NL Hold’em at 8 pm ET.
