The addition of “Isildur1” to Team PokerStars Pro wasn’t the only change the world’s largest online poker site made this week. PokerStars also released a software update that includes new features to make your online poker experience more enjoyable and convenient. Here’s a look:
Find Seat: Cash game players can find tables easier with the latest PokerStars upgrade. Now, a “Find Seat” option has been added to make it easier to multi-table without the hassle of searching for tables. Clicking on the “Find Seat” button will find an empty seat at same level and type of game.
Once a player is seated at a table, he can press “Ctrl-S” and opt to be seated at another table of the exact same stakes and game as the one he is already playing. Clicking “Ctrl-S” again will join another game of the same specifications. Those seated at ring games with the “Auto-Buy-In” option enabled won’t even have to click any additional buttons.
If a table has filled up before a player has the chance to click the “Seat Me” button, there will now be a “Find Seat” button in the popup alert. Clicking that button will take players to another table identical to the one they were trying to join.
Font Change for Games: PokerStars changed the font for games to be more user-friendly, especially for those with various types of color blindness. You’ll notice the changes as soon as you register for a new game. If a player is waitlisted for a ring game, the font will be blue, bold, and italics. If they are seated at a ring game, the font will be red, bold, and italics. And if a player registers for a tournament, the “State” column will be listed in red, bold, and italics.
Volume Sliders: Players now have the option of adjusting the volume on each of the sounds in the PokerStars client. By clicking “Options” and then “Sound Settings,” players can fiddle with the sliders for sounds such as “Card Dealt,” “Check,” “Bet,” Fold,” or “Warning.”
Bracket for Heads-Up Tournaments: PokerStars has made it March Madness all year round. The site developed the ability to display a bracket for heads-up tournaments to show how the event has progressed, similar to the popular college basketball tournament. The feature is currently in Beta stage and will be slowly added to selected heads-up tournaments. For now, it will only be available after a tournament is down to 64 players.
Register to Any: PokerStars has fixed the problems with the “Register to Any” button. Previously, clicking it would open the sit and go tournament lobby even if a player had the settings turned off in the Options menu. The issue has been fixed so that “Register to Any” won’t open the lobby unless the Auto-Open option is enabled. Players can also click “Requests” and then “Registered in Tournaments” (or Ctrl-R) to show the tournaments they are registered for.
Other items in PokerStars’ latest software rollout include upgrades to the “Detached Chat” option, new bet sizing buttons for Draw games, and a new Mixed Game combining No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha. While the new games aren’t available just yet, the site will be adding them over the course of the month.
