In 2008 the main event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure awarded $3 million to Canadian player Poorya Nazari for defeating a field that had 1,347 players. Nazari won the biggest prize in a live tournament event with the exception of the WSOP main event.
PokerStars will have free satellite events that will start today at midnight. Two tournaments will run each hour at the 20 and 40 minute mark past the hour. The first tournament is completely free and the second one is only $1.10. All players that finish in the top nine positions will get a seat at the PCA Fantasy Freeroll Main Event, which will be played on December 6th.
The PCA Fantasy Freeroll will be divided into three tournaments; players will have the chance to choose in which one they would like to play. The top nine players at each tournament will win a $15,100 package.
Each package will include the main event buy-in, hotel accommodations for eight nights, food credit and extra money for traveling expenses.
The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will have a total of fifty tournaments with buy-ins that will range from $200 up to $25K. Some of the tournaments that stand out are: a Heads Up Challenge, 8 Game Championship, PLO Championships 8 max and a High Roller 8 max tournament.
