Even tough the PCA is taking place at the Bahamas, players have taken the time to play the biggest guaranteed tournaments that PokerStars offers every Sunday.
The Sunday Million had a total of 8,721 entries which made the total guaranteed prize pool grow from $1.5 million to a remarkable $1.7 million. A total of 1,260 players would be leaving the tables with extra money in their accounts and the top three places with be scoring a six figure pay day for their efforts.
As time passed by inevitably players busted out until the money bubble was burst. Play continued rather quickly and after a total of nine hours and thirty minutes there were ten players remaining in the tournament. The final table bubble boy was defined in a hand between Hookaholic and ksr76. After Hookaholic moved all-in from the big blind position while holding pocket kings, ksr76 thought that his Ad-4d had good chances and called, the board ran 9c-Ac-4s-9s-2s, which favored ksr76 and at the same time ended Hookaholic’s tournament life. Heading into the final table the blinds were 150K/300K with a 30K ante. The chip leader was ksr76 with twenty one million chips, his closest follower had sixteen million and the shortest stack was held by shep2k with 3,4 million chips. The small stacks took well thought risks before the blinds wiped away their chips and the chip counts started to vary; the first player out of the final table was tof971 after he ran into pocket aces and had the unfortunate luck of getting a board that did not help the Ac-Jd that he was holding. The action continued and after everything was over the last man standing was Isetit for a total prize of $241K, his opponent in the heads-up action was marktb for $202K.
Just before the Sunday Million, the Sunday Warm-up had an outstanding field that reached 4,701 entries, which boosted the guaranteed prize pool to $940K. Play was aggressive and it did not take long before the final table was reached, the first player out of the final nine was PaperChump, who took $7,521 for his efforts in the tournament. Soon after the short stacks started to bust out until there were four players remaining in the tournament, they stopped the tourney and reached a chop agreement, play resumed and soon after everything was over, Vyna took the first place prize for $98K.
