Even though the most watched sports event in the world was held yesterday, the PokerStars Big Money Sunday tournaments had thousands of players ready to give their best fight at the virtual felts for a chance to win a six digit payout. The Sunday Warm-up had a total of forty nine hundred registered players which increased the prize pool to a notable $980K. The outstanding prize pool guaranteed a six digit payout to the top three players, which meant that it was going to be a long and tough battle at the tables.
Just as the Superbowl was finishing and the New Orleans Saints fans started to celebrate their victory, the final table was set at the Sunday Warm-up and the Supernova PhilIvey0997 was leading the pack with a very large chip stack. The runner-up to the chip lead when the final table started was Vincent466, but despite his good position on the chip count things did not go his way and he ended up busting out of the final table in sixth place. As play continued and only three players remained in the tournament, play was stopped and an agreement was reached, $10K were put aside and the three finalists resumed play. Player vaderGZ quickly busted out in third place but at the time of the agreement he was second in chips so that guaranteed him a $110K prize. The heads-up action lasted only for a few minutes and PhilIvey0997 was able to outplay his opponent trippkirk to increase his prize to $133K.
The biggest guaranteed tournament of the week The Sunday Million had a total of 9,031 players registered, this boosted the prize pool to a bit more than $1.8 million. A total of 1,350 players left the tables with some extra money in their pockets. It took almost ten hours to narrow the field to the final nine players and MiguelPiper held the chip lead as play continued, he struggled at the final table and ended up busting out in 8th place for a payout that was just short of $20K. When the heads-up action was reached, golferen50 and palurdo paused the tournament and quickly agreed on the fixed numbers, a $30K prize pool was put aside and the eventual winner would take home the extra cash. Play resumed and palurdo was able to outplay his opponent to take down a $248K prize; the runner-up golferen50 ended up with $198K.
