This past weekend, players around the world took some time away from their TV sets and other activities to play in PokerStar‘ biggest guaranteed tournaments. This weekend 7,856 players took the Sunday Million challenge, and the prize pool swelled to $1,571,200.
Just before level 34, player Helten22 was nursing a short stack and he made a move, pushing all his chips in the middle with Jh-Tc. There was one caller, n1nj4.br, who wanted to join the action with his pocket nines. Unfortunately for Helten22 the board gave his opponent a set and that was enough to take him out of the tournament.
When the tourney had only three players remaining, they stopped to try to reach an agreement and it only took them a few minutes to get to the final numbers. They resumed play for $30K that was put aside. At the end vuki was able to outplay his opponents, taking the first place prize of $173K. The runner-up, n1nj4.br, took $173K and kiramm finished third for $178K.
The Sunday Warm-up was a total success as 4,412 players registered and the prize pool reached $882K. The last players in the tournament reached an agreement, but they would play out $10 until a final winner was declared. At the end, player brianm15 saw his PokerStars balance increase by $85K, and second place finisher Witcherd took $113K.
