PokerStars – World Championship of Online Poker event #1 has a new Champion

The biggest series of online poker tournaments started on September the 3rd and the anticipation had the poker world on the edge of their seats. The first event had a guaranteed prize pool of $1,250,000, but with 8,538 entrants, it swelled to $1,707,600.

Many poker pros were spotted at the tournament tables. The 2003 World Series of Poker main event winner Chris Moneymaker, the 2005 WSOP Champion Joe Hachem, Barry Greenstein, who holds 3 WSOP bracelets, as well as one of the top online tournament players Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier. Many PokerStars pros also played, including: JC Alvarado, Anton Allemann, Lee Nelson, Vistor Ramdin, Dennis Phillips and George Danzer made an appearance at the first WCOOP event.

The final table was reached after 16 hours of tournament play, and two and a half hours after that, there were only two players left. The last two standing were ChopSueyyy and MMalipo, who started taking about making a deal, and reached an agreement soon after, leaving $25K left in play. At the end the $25K was won by ChopSueyyy and his PokerStars account balance was increased with the 1st prize of $234,421.82.
