Redmond Lee is a 24 year-old online poker professional that hails from London, England and finished 21st in the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event for $317,000. A cash game specialist, Lee has used his experience in deep-stacked play to his advantage during the 2010 Championship Event.
Lee entered play on Day 7 amongst the short stacks with 2.22 million in chips, but showed great stamina and maturity at the table, grinding patiently. He managed to double up early on in a key hand against Gabe Costner. Costner raised in early position to 140,000 before Lee decided to risk it all with his Qh – Qd and moved forward his last 1.955 million. Costner called and revealed his Ah – Kd sending the two off to the races. Fortunately for Lee, there was no Ace or King to be found and his day began with a very important double-up. The hand proved crucial for both parties and was the beginning of the end for Costner, who after being once among the chipleaders, proved unable to reverse his downward trend and was eventually eliminated in 35th place.
One of Lee’s most notable hands on Day 7 came when he wound up all-in on a Kc – 9h – 7s flop with As – Ks, against Jakob Toestesen’s Ah – Kh. The two chopped the hefty pot, and both lived to fight another day.
Lee is four year veteran of the World Series of Poker and is playing in his fourth Main Event. His largest live tournament cash came in his WSOP Main Event debut back in 2007, when he finished in 441st place earning just under $30,000. Lee also cashed in a $2,000 NL Hold’em Event at the 2008 WSOP worth $3,477, and a $500 Venetian Deep-Stack tournament the same year.
Lee won his entry into the 2010 Main Event via a satellite, and is set to earn a very healthy return on his initial investment.
