Shining stars from around the poker world were celebrated this past weekend at the 5th Annual Global Poker Awards. The kudos were spread around, as while there were some familiar faces receiving trophies, not one person or entity dominated the night.
Bin Weng won GPI Player of the Year based on his 2023 points total, Kristen Foxen won her fourth (FOURTH!) GPI Female Player of the Year title, and Nick Pupillo claimed Mid-Major Player of the Year honors.
The list of finalists in most categories is below, with the winner in each highlighted in bold. In addition to the Player of the Year trophies, a few other awards were handed out that didn’t go through the usual nomination and voting rounds. GGPoker’s Game of Gold won the GPI Award of Merit, the late Doyle Brunson was named Poker Icon, Casey Kastle won the Hendon Mob Award, and Nadya Magnus won for Best Charitable/Community Initiative.
Joining Bin Weng and Nick Pupillo as first time Global Poker Award winners were Jans Arends, Jaman Burton, Ali Nejad, Daniel Sepiol, Marle Spragg, Bert Stevens, and Toby Stone.
