Sun Poker

Sun Poker opened in 2004.  It was originally known as Caribbean Sun Poker.  Its sister sites were casinos known as Caribbean Sun and Omni Casino.

The poker site launched on the Cryptologic Network.  This was a booming network in its early days that was popular among players that used to take advantage of online poker bonuses and great rakeback deals.  Cryptologic dropped U.S. players in 2006 after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act was enacted.  Its player base collapsed after that decision.

Cryptologic closed its doors in 2009.  When the writing was on the walls in late 2008, Sun Poker left Cryptologic for iPoker.  The iPoker Network rolled out a tiered network system that put all of the larger skins on a separate tier, restricting access to many popular tables.  This hurt Sun Poker’s appeal to serious players that were often targeted with generous marketing by Sun Poker.

Sun Poker felt that they were not being treated professionally by the iPoker Network.  Unhappy with the product they were offering players, Sun Poker closed its online poker site in November 2012.  Unlike most closings where players lose funds or at least VIP points, Sun Poker moved all funds and comps to its Omni Casino site.  Players were able to cash out all funds and bonus points there.  The Omni Casino site still operates to this day and has a great reputation.
