The Showdown – Episode 10, Part 1

Jon Friedberg hosts The Showdown, Episode 10 with guest Christina Lindley.

This is Part 1 of The Showdown. Be sure to watch The Showdown – Episode 10, Part 2.

The first item of business for this week’s episode is the Twitter lowdown and there was a lot going on this past week. The biggest topic was the NBC Heads Up National Championship and a lot of talk about who belonged in the field of 64 players. Some very well known players were upset that certain players, specifically celebrities, were invited to play.

Our host believes that it is a television broadcast and in order to get ratings, you’re going to have to include some poker playing celebrities, like Jennifer Tilly. “Ultimately, I think the NBC Heads Up Championship is still great exposure for poker,” commented Friedberg.

Another topic on Twitter was the New Jersey legislation and it being vetoed. Lastly another topic was about Greg Raymer wearing a Full Tilt Poker patch and how Friedberg doesn’t believe that Fossilman doesn’t have much value to a sponsor anymore.

Moving on to the VoteDown segment, last week Friedberg asked for your thoughts about whether it is ethical or unethical to call the clock on someone in a poker tournament. The general consensus is that if it is abused it’s a bad idea but if it is used in moderation, it is okay. The new topic is poker on television, as there have been some shows that have been around for a while and some that have new formats and hosts. Jon Friedberg wants to know your opionion of what is your favorite poker show to watch on TV. Let him know on Twitter @JonFriedberg and on email at JonFriedberg@gmail.com.

This week’s guest is model, actress and poker player Christina Lindley. She brought on a bottle of wine, which Friedberg seemed quite pleased about. Lindley came into poker about two and a half years ago during the writer’s strike. She walked into a poker room with her Dad in Tunica and fell in love with the game.
