The Showdown Episode 4 is here with Shaun Deeb as guest to the show hosted by professional poker player and WSOP bracelet winner Jon Friedberg.

This is Part 1 of Episode 4 of The Showdown. To continue watching, be sure to catch Part 2 of Episode 4 of The Showdown.

To kick things off, Friedberg reminds the audience that there’s a full week of UBOC6 still running on UB.com and that there’s already been a ton of money won in the tournament series. Friedberg, who has a couple of cashes already, is hosting the PLO event on January 26th at 5pm Pacific Time.

If you don’t already have an account on UB.com, be sure to signup using the cash bonus promo code “UBPND” when you are prompted.

The first major topic of the show is the new professional poker circuit that was announced by soon to be commissioner Annie Duke as well as former WSOP boss Jeffrey Pollack.

“This is something that the industry has needed,” Friedberg explains, “The PGA works this way and so many professional sports work this way and poker just needs it … I hope it’s successful. My biggest concern is that this has been tried a couple of times in the past unsuccessfully. The first time was the PPA which was the WPT and they selected a handful of players and did some invitational events. The other was, I think, called the PPL that most of you haven’t heard about because it never got off the ground.”

Friedberg went on to discuss some of the serious issues that people have brought up regarding the concept of trying to find the best 200 poker players and putting them in a league against each other and how the invitation process will work.

After that topic, the show moved on to the Krantz situation which was a topic on the show last week. Friedberg discussed how Jay Rosenkrantz admitted and apologized for playing some Heads-Up cash game matches under a friend’s account and how this was unethical but not something extremely harmful.

“Your vote was pretty on the line and stated that he should be punished for his actions,” commented Friedberg.

Friedberg then asks the audience to tweet their thoughts on the new Annie Duke Poker League to @JonFriedberg or to jonfriedberg@gmail.com.

The guest of the week then arrives in the form of poker pro Shaun Deeb. The first topic discussed with Deeb was the rumor regarding the fact that he had his biggest live score at the recently concluded PCA. Deeb had some very deep final table runs at the PokerStars sponsored live event in the Bahamas.
