Team Titan member Marvin Rettenmaier, who hails from Germany, made waves in Event #11: $1500 No Limit Hold’em at the 2010 World Series of Poker. Rettenmaier and eight other players outlasted 2,563 runners to reach the final table. Among those who had a shot at a bracelet was Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan, who also stood to win millions of dollars in side bets.
At the end of the day, it was not to be for Rettenmaier….or durrrr for that matter. The Titan Poker Pro entered the final table with the third shortest stack and eventually got it in the middle with 7c6c. His 12 BB shove was quickly called by David Randal, who tabled AdJs. When the the flop came down 7h-8h-9d, Rettenmaier had some hope, but after a 3d fell on the turn, the Js sealed his fate on the river. Rettenmaier hit the rail in seventh place, taking home $78K.
Meanwhile, Tom Dwan came astonishingly close to winning his bracelet bet and a rumored $10 million, but he was unfortunately ousted in second place for a comparatively paltry sum of $381K. On the final hand of play, Dwan shoved his chips in the middle with Qd-6c, only to be immediately called by Simon Watt’s 9d-9c. After the board ran 8c-Ac-As-Ad-Kh, durrrr was eliminated and Simon Watt became the champion of Event #11.
