Sunday marks the 45th NFL Super Bowl. The NFC Champion Green Bay Packers will battle the AFC Champion Pittsburgh Steelers at 6:30pm ET in Dallas, Texas. UB.com is gearing up for the “Big Game” by holding a $200K Touchdown promotion, awarding 40 seats in its weekly $200,000 Guaranteed.
The $200,000 Guaranteed runs every Sunday and is the flagship tournament on the CEREUS Network. Last week, 972 players turned out and Vanessa “PRINCESSDONK” Peng walked away with a $44,000 top prize. The field numbered 972, meaning that the $200,000 Guaranteed, a $215 buy-in contest, featured an overlay that passed $5,000. The top 90 players landed in the money.
There was a considerable amount of cash distributed at the final table of last weekend’s $200,000 Guaranteed on UB.com. Including Peng’s $44,000 jackpot, five players cashed for five-figures. Now that you know what’s at stake, let’s go through the basics of tomorrow’s UB.com festivities. The first component of UB.com’s $200K Touchdown promotion is a freeroll that will take place on Sunday at Noon ET. The completely free tournament will shell out 20 seats to the $200,000 Guaranteed, which takes place later that day at 4:00pm ET. The top 20 finishers in the freeroll will walk away with $215 seats and a little something extra to look forward to.
Players who don’t roll out of bed that early can take advantage of a $4.40 Rebuy satellite on Sunday at 1:00pm ET. You can get a whole extra hour of sleep and compete for another 20 seats in the $200,000 Guaranteed. Again, the top 20 players will qualify and, as text found in a press release distributed by UB.com notes, “That should be enough incentive for players to clear their Super Bowl schedule.”
Perhaps the $200K Touchdown promotion will unite Packers and Steelers fans around the United States and around the world. The UB.com press release explained, “At the end of the day, whether you’re a ‘Cheesehead’ or a ‘Terrible Towel’ toting fan, you’ll be on a winning track.” The Packers are a three-point favorite, according to Bodog, and the over/under is 45.5. The game can be seen on FOX in the United States.
UB.com is also holding freerolls for the annual L.A. Poker Classic, a stop on the World Poker Tour (WPT). The top 100 players in each daily freeroll will move on to a Weekly Final. The top 75 finishers in the Weekly Final will advance to the Main Event, where the winner will head to California for the star-studded WPT tournament. UB.com’s L.A. Poker Classic prize package consists of the tournament’s $10,000 buy-in along with $2,000 to use for travel and accommodation.
In 2010, Andras Koroknai took home a $1.7 million top prize for winning the WPT L.A. Poker Classic. The top 72 players finished in the money after 745 entered. This year, the stop will play out from February 25th to March 1st from the Commerce Casino.
