The Cereus Network is hosting the UBOC events for the fourth time and the first events have been successful: there has been a great influx of players, thousands of dollars have been awarded and there’s more money on the line in the upcoming events. A minimum of $4 million will be awarded in the 18 tournaments scheduled in the UBOC championship.
The events started yesterday with a Sniper tourney. Annie Duke hosted the event, and the guaranteed prize was $250K. Due to the 1,103 players registered for the tournament, the prize pool was boosted to $297K, and it took more than seven hours to play down to the final table. Some players mentioned stopping the tourney to try to reach a deal, but most wanted to play it out until a final player remained in the tourney.
The first player to bust out was DEGORD2 for $5,062. The tournament continued and more players kept busting out. When three players were remaining, PEENAR7 kept trying to convince players to stop the tournament and reach a deal, but the chip leader, KEEFKING420, wanted to keep playing. SCHUEY995 finished in 3rd place for $26,653, then the heads-up action started and PEENAR7 and KEEFKING420 continued to play until early morning the next day. When everything was over it was KEEFKING420 who outplayed PEENAR7 to take the first place prize of $65K.
Event number two also started yesterday, it was an 8 game mix tourney with a $50K guaranteed prize pool. When the tournament was over the last man standing was CYBERCOW, who saw his bankroll increase in $15K; the runner-up was JUSTIN SCOTT for $9,8K and in third place was CHETSTEADMAN for $6,3K.
