It is tough being a beautiful woman in a man’s sport; many women have tried to pursue professional poker but few have succeeded. UltimateBet’s new professional, Liv Boeree, is one of the few to make it, establishing herself as an important figure in the poker community.
She broke on to the tournament poker scene when she took a 7th place at the Welsh Amateur Poker Championships. After that, she went on to finish in 1st place at a live tournament at Caesars Palace. She continued her success in 2008 when she won the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship and took home a $30,000 prize. She also made the money at two 2008 WSOP events; in event 38 $2,000 Pot Limit Hold’em she finished in 49th position for $4,074 and in event 41 $1,500 Mixed Limit Hold’em she finished in 64th place earning $2,793. She also finished in 49th at the 2008 Aruba Classic.
In 2009 Liv has had success at several events. She made two final tables in the preliminary events of the World Poker Tour Championships winning $23,000. She also won a $25,000 seat to the WPT Main Event in a satellite tournament; she finished in 37th place and cashed for $41,000.
Liv Boeree has appeared on many TV shows and has played poker with some of the world’s best poker players. She definitely enhances the Ultimate Bet Pro line-up that includes the likes of Annie Duke and 11 time WSOP bracelet winner, Phil Hellmuth.
