Viktor “Isildur1” Blom has had a bit of a down month at the online cash game tables (not likely helped by competing at the World Series of Poker), but the nosebleed stakes king got back in the black Sunday, winning $1.23 million. He continued for a little while after the page of the calendar turned, upping his total winnings for the long session to $1.4 million.
According to HighStakesDB.com, Blom started out by taking on another popular player, Ike “luvtheWNBA” Haxton, at the $500/$1000 CAP No-Limit Hold’em tables. After a couple hours, Blom left the table up $150,000.
Players at the Triple Draw tables were Blom’s next victims, forking over $49,000 to the Swede. Then it was on to Fixed-Limit Omaha/8, where he took on some of the world’s best: Phil “Polarizing” Ivey, Kyle “KPR16” Ray, Patrik “FinddaGrind” Antonius, and fellow member of Full Tilt Poker’s “Professionals,” Gus Hansen. He profited $423,000 against that murderer’s row, and before that, he won about $240,000 playing multiple short-handed games simultaneously.
That session went on for about five hours, but Blom wasn’t finished. He switched back to No-Limit Hold’em, first taking on “SanIker” at the non-capped $400/$800 tables, where Blom won $73,000 in forty minutes. The two then ratcheted the stakes up to $500/$1,000 and the results were even better for Blom: a $212,000 win.
After that, Blom scooped $60,000 more at Triple Draw and then another $52,000 in only 25 hands from Phil Ivey.
Going with the theory, “play the hot hand,” Viktor Blom gave Ike Haxton a re-match at No-Limit Hold’em. It was a long match – six hours – and though both players’ stacks ebbed and flowed, it was Blom who once again ended up on top, winning $110,000.
At the same time, Blom played three and a half hours against Kyle Ray and “samrostan” at Fixed-Limit Omaha/8. Blom scored a modest (for him) $24,000 victory, which was an accomplishment considering he was down $300,000 at one point.
Blom finished up beating “SallyWoo” heads-up for $70,000 at the $2,000/$4,000 Fixed-Limit Omaha/8 tables.
Based on figures provided by HighStakesDB.com, Viktor Blom is now up $3.53 million on the year, just in online cash games. For most of July, he was losing; the $1.23 million day elevated his monthly earnings to $821,600, but he since fallen back a bit, now just under half a million in profit.
“Tight-Man1” is the current top money winner for July on the HighStakesDB.com charts, banking $1.2 million this month. Blom’s July totals put him fifth. For the year, Blom is just barely ahead of Kyle “cottonseed1” Hendon, who has made $3.15 million.
