In the conclusion of our exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the World Poker Tour, we check out some of the history of poker and also get to see more of Mike Sexton’s pre-game preparation. Afterwards, host Sean Gibson is joined by the two men leading the WPT for an exclusive interview with President Adam Pliska and CEO Steven Heller.
Our video begins with Sexton discussing the history of the trophy awarded to the winner of the 2010 WPT Legends tournament, held annually from the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, CA (Los Angeles county). The trophy bears the likeness of one Wild Bill Hickock, who like Sexton is in the Poker Hall of Fame. We then see the final leg of Sexton’s pre-game preparation as he personally goes to each of the remaining six members of the tournament to greet them and ask them questions. These answers serve as details that Sexton shares as part of his commentary during a broadcast.
Our final stop in our Insider’s Look into the World Poker tour ends with Pliska and Heller. Both answer some tough questions about the past of the World Poker Tour and why it was necessary to do an internal housecleaning. On that note Heller discusses the new regime coming in who recently purchased the WPT and how they view the brand and where they plan to take it. Both discuss the positives of the WPT and some of the exciting things coming for players, including stops now in Florida and in London. The WPT signed and exclusive agreement with the Seminole Hard Rock Casino for five years with Heller explaining how exciting he is to place the WPT brand in that state.
The team at Poker News Daily would like to extend a huge thanks to the entire group at the World Poker Tour for giving us exclusive access to the inner workings of their broadcast team. The World Poker Tour recently resigned with Fox Sports Net for two more years beyond the upcoming Season 9, meaning great poker telecasts will continue to air for the next three years.
